Lift and pole

Lift and pole work for storefronts, podiums and low-rise

When the glass is within reach of a lift or a pole, it is quicker, quieter and less visible to residents. We use the tool that fits the glass and the ground below.

Good fit for

  • Retail storefronts and podium glass

  • Low and mid-rise offices

  • Hotel canopies and entrances

  • Parking structure stair glass

Included

Which tool, which glass

The bid says which one we use on each elevation.

  • Water-fed pole

Purified water on a long pole for upper-floor glass, with no ladder and no one on a roof.

  • Boom lift

A lift with a platform for glass the pole can't reach cleanly, set on firm ground with a cordon.

  • Ladder and hand work

Ground-floor glass, door glass and frames, done by hand with a scraper and squeegee.

  • Frames and sills

Wiped down so dirty water doesn't dry on the glass.

A visit, in order

A visit, from arrival

Short and quiet, ahead of when shops open.

  1. 01

Step 1: Arrive and walk the elevation

The crew lead walks the glass with your contact and marks anything to leave alone.

  2. 02

Step 2: Set the lift or the pole

Cones and signs go up, and the lift goes down on ground the plan has marked.

  3. 03

Step 3: Clean, top to bottom

Upper glass first, then the ground floor, so water doesn't run onto clean panes.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Check and pack

Glass is checked from the sidewalk, cones come in and the day's report is sent.

Limits

What we don't do here

Some glass is better left to another trade.

  • Glass the lift can't reach

Tall faces go to rope access, and the bid says so.

  • Hard-water etching

If the surface is etched, we say so and don't promise it will clear.

  • Sealant and repairs

We flag failed seals. Your glazier fixes them.

Questions about this work

Do you bring your own water?

Yes, purified water for pole work, so we don't need a tap. If a lift needs power, we bring a generator unless the plan says otherwise.

Can you work before the shops open?

Yes. For storefronts we start early and finish before opening where the plan allows.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain doesn't stop pole work on exterior glass. We don't work in a downpour, and your manager is told.

Want the drop plan for your building?

Send the address and the number of floors. A surveyor replies within one business day to set the roof visit.
